Transfer What is Transfer? Transfer is when our server transfers your web site information though our network to your web surfers browser, commonly called bandwidth. And when you don't quite understand transfer or bandwidth, you might feel limited by seeing bandwidth amounts. Bandwidth it the amount of netowork resources that your web site would use to deliver all your text and graphics, etc. on a web page over the network to the end web surfer's browser looking at your site. Think of it as how much water you would spray through a water hose into your surfers face from the server. If you had a text only website, then you would only use a little bit of bandwidth and thus barely spray water through the water hose at your surfer. If you had a really graphic intensive web site with huge gif or jpegs, movies and applets, etc. then it would be like squirting a lot of water in your web surfers face. With bandwidth or transfer, it would be like paying for the amount of water you would be using over a certain amount. Example... This html page text is about 14.8K and the graphics should be already preloaded in your web browser since you've already downloaded them into your browser cache from previously viewed pages with these exact same graphics. With 1000MB or (1 gigabyte) of transfer (our minum package offering), you would be able to see this page 67,567 times with our smallest monthly package. At the worst, if you included all of the graphics on this page for a total page size of 80k, that would be 12,500 page views in one month. So as you can see, if you had a web site with every page being about 80k or so, then we're talking about having approximately 12,500 new visitors, at the minimum, see your site in a month with only 1000mb of transfer and as high as 67,567 page views. So if you had that many visitors and went over, would it be too much to pay an extra $10 per month for another 67,567 page views? The answer's no, right! ...Because if you had that many visitors to your web site on a monthly basis most would call it a success or at least a great start! You get what you pay for... Others offer FREE unlimited bandwidth, but if we were like them and offered free bandwidth, then we would attact bandwidth gobblers like ftp sites and huge emailers, etc. and end up packing you with all our clients on the same network offering free bandwidth and let your sites just fight it out, then how fast do you think your web page would load?... Pretty slow, right? Well, we have plenty of bandwidth and we sell it in segments and monitor it in order to accommodate your traffic loads in an efficient manner to deliver you the best possible service for your web hosting needs. | Home
